Gorgeous jacaranda coming into bloom on Del Mar in Pasadena

Jacaranda trees in bloom along Del Mar in Pasadena.

The jacaranda are blooming somewhat early this year–no doubt because of the warm, dry winter–not unlike Brazil where these trees are natives.   But the huge old jacaranda trees that line Del Mar in Pasadena, CA are beginning to be ladened with purple blossoms.  If you’re in the L.A. area, you can take the Metro Gold Line and get off at the Del Mar station.  Then walk one-half block south to Del Mar and go east.  In another week the sight should be even more beautiful!  The photo on this page is from the peak bloom period in 2011.
